We suggest you do not prebook flights to Milford Sound as they are weather dependant. We also do not recommend a day trip from Blanket Bay to Milford Sound using land transport as this involves a road journey of at least five hours each way.

From the Glenorchy Airstrip, just two minutes from Blanket Bay, Glenorchy Air will fly you to Milford Sound where you will land and join one of the Milford Sound cruises which depart throughout the day. The boats cruise the full length of the fiord to the Tasman Sea and back to the wharf at the Milford Sound Visitor Centre. By flying with with Glenorchy Air you will avoid the tour bus crowds which arrive from Queenstown in the middle of the day.
